Culture and leadership are deciding factors for the success of the cause-and-effect-chain great place to work − great place to shop − great place to invest. To generate a successful corporate culture, an ongoing dialogue with the employees and transparent action on the part of management is vital. Good leadership is especially characterised by fully informed employees and, thus, winning them over for the strategy and relevant goals.

Attitude − one’s own mindset, stance, convictions − plays a crucial part in creating the image of a corporation and through that also in the attractiveness of the employer and the recruiting process.
The model of the six attitudes by Martin Permantier provides insight in this regard. It can be used to position oneself in a continuum of different attitudes and to describe the potential development of people, organisations and societies.

In challenging times, it is more important than ever to lead with steadfastness. For me, the most important things are

  • honest and open conversation,
  • taking responsibility and
  • ensuring stability and guidance.

It is important to step in when noticing negative developments and to motivate yourself and others to improve and get better.

Our time – e. g. in regards to our youth (“Fridays for Future”) – is full of new necessities and this requires new attitudes to find solutions for global challenges. Economic success is not the only factor determining the relevance of a corporation − ethical considerations that evaluate the attitude and convictions of a company rise in importance.

There is a shift to a more meaningful attitude that focuses on transparency and respect and it requires the corresponding leadership and organisational structure. It is not enough to simply introduce new methods for their own sake. Only with sufficient reflection and decided self-improvement is it possible to achieve a corporate identity, personal growth and maturity.
